Bareilly, a not much famous city in Uttar Pradesh, to get its ‘Jhumka’, a piece of jewellery as a symbolic replica at it Parsakhera Zero point. The Bareilly Development Authority has approached the National Highways Authority For installation of ‘jhumka’ at Parsakhera Zero point. The replica will now come up at the entrance of the city on Delhi-Bareilly road at Parsakhera.
The shot into fame in 1966 when the late Bollywood actress Sadhana danced to the song Jhumka Gira re, Bareilly JE bazar mein in the movie Mera Saaya. According to The Hindu report the proposed Jhumka wii be 2.42 m in diameter and 12-14 feet in height. The landscaping around the ‘Jhumka’ is estimated to cost about ₹18 lakh. There will be three surname (kohl) bottles (inspired by the ‘surname daani’ used in the song) surrounding the structure. Surname bottles will be kept in the parapet walls, which will also have colourful lights installed there.
