Ahmedabad: The families of three Dalit boys killed in police firing in Thangadh in 2012, who gave up their 19-day protest after the Gujarat government promised an Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, are once again demanding CBI enquiry. 

They said the decision is prompted by their lack of faith in the state police.
In September 2012, three Dalits — Pankaj Sumra, Prakash Parmar and Mehul Rathod — were reportedly killed in police firing after clashes broke out between the Dalits and OBC Bharwads over the positioning of stalls in a fair. 

Despite two enquiries, no headway has been made in the case. The report submitted to the principal secretary of the social justice and empowerment department remains inconclusive. The state CID enquiry also drew no results. 

The families sat on a hunger strike demanding a CBI probe. But called off the protest after the state announced the SIT probe, to be conducted by senior police officials, and an additional compensation of Rs 2 lakh.
