Chandigarh: Former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh has consented to participate in Pakistan’s Kartarpur Corridor inaugural function in Kartarpur, Narowal, on November 9.The Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, would inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor on November 9, as he announced on Sunday that Kartarpur project has been completed in time for the Sikhs from world over the visit this historic Gurdwara where Guru Nanak Dev ji, the first Guru of the Sikhs, spent his last over 17 years of life and ploughed his land himself.
Earlier on October 3 last, the Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, without having consulted Dr Manmohan Singh has stated that Dr Manmohan Singh would participate in the Guru Nanak celebrations on the Indian side.
The former PM Manmohan Singh will be attending the Kartarpur inaugural ceremony in his individual capacity as a devote Sikh.
The Pakistan foreign minister Qureshi said in Multan that “He is welcome even as a common participant,” said while talking to the media on Saturday. Qureshi said Prime Minister Imran Khan would inaugurate Pakistan’s part of the corridor, facilitating pilgrimage of 5,000 Indian Sikhs every day to their holy place.
Earlier on October 3 last, the Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, without having consulted Dr Manmohan Singh has stated that Dr Manmohan Singh would participate in the Guru Nanak celebrations on the Indian side. Capt Amrinder Singh had also said that Dr Manmohan Singh would go to Kartarpur Sahib along with the members of the Punjab Cabinet an, MPs, MLAs and other celebrities.
