A life-size statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who ruled over Punjab for about 38 years, was installed at Lahore Fort on Thursday at a simple ceremony.
In April 1792, Maharaja Ranjit Singh ascended the thrown at the young age of 20, and ruled Punjab for 38 years till 27th June 1839.
The statue has been installed in open outside the Mai Jinda Haveli on his 180th death anniversary, that was on June 28, 2019. The haveli said to be named after Maharaja youngest queen, where Sikh artefacts are exhibited and is called Sikh Gallery. The 8-feet high statue which depicts Ranjit Singh mounted on a horse ( see pic above with this blog Maharaja’s statue installed outside Mai Jind Haveli in Lahore Fort) has been installed under the auspices of the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA)-an autonomous body for the conservation of the city’s heritage-in collaboration with S.K. Foundation , a UK based Sikh organisation. The Fiber cold bronze finish statue was sculpted by the famous National Institute of Arts, Lahore.

Talking to this reporter on telephone the curator of the Faqir Khan Museum, Faqir Saifuddin said the Maharaja Ranjit Singh has been shown ridding his favourite Arabian horse Kahar Babar. The sculpture has been gifted to museum by SK Foundation, UK and Raj Kapany of US. The installation of Maharaja’s statue is part of the promotion of Sikh tourism in Pakistan.

The Maharaja Ranjit Singh , was the only ruler in the world, who invaided Afghanistan, defeated the Afhgan army, expanded his kingdom over Afhganistan and established his rule. It was his greatest achievement, till date no power in the world including Brithisers and USA could defeat Aghganistan.
Earlier, the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor last November to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev ji at Kartarpur Sahib, where Guru Nanak lived for more than 17 years and spent last years of his life here, before he left for heavenly abode. His samadhi was built by his followers including Muslims, who made equal claim on Guru sahib's imortal remains, as they had belief in Guru Nanak Devji, whom they revere as Baba Nanak Pir.
