Jammu: A video showing at least half a dozen militants playing cricket in an orchard with AK-47 rifles as wickets is going viral on social networking sites. However, the police and security agencies claim that the video is believed to be shot somewhere between Shopian and Kulgam.
A one minute video showing AK-47 wielding militants playing cricket in the apple orchard surfaced two days ago and is part of two videos released simultaneously by the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), respectively.
“The militant batting in the video is the LeT leader-Dr Saifullah, who is quite active between Shopian and Kulgam, therefore this video has been shot somewhere between Shopian and Kulgam,” said an officer, adding that he is a foreign militant.
A senior police officer, wishing anonymity said that the video came to their notice two days back along with other video, wherein militants are shown cooking food in the orchards.
“The militant batting in the video is the LeT leader-Dr Saifullah, who is quite active between Shopian and Kulgam, therefore this video has been shot somewhere between Shopian and Kulgam,” said officer, adding that he is foreign militant.
Officer further said that the video was simultaneously released with another video showing Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Nayak cooking food.
“In one of the videos surfaced on the same day, the HM Commander is shown cooking food at a similar place, which raises doubts regarding the functioning of these two militant outfits,” said officer.
Within two days, the video had over 57,434 views, while it has been shared more than 7268 times at different forums.
Meanwhile, sources said that these videos are being deliberately uploaded on social sites only to make the presence of foreign militants evident in Kashmir.
Since the last one year, a large number of videos pertaining to local as well as foreign militants in Kashmir have been surfaced, following the trend set by slain Hizbul commander-Burhan Wani.
